Flock and Rally Honored with 2014 Palmetto Award of Excellence by South Carolina Chapter of International Association of Business Communicators

The South Carolina chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/SC) has honored Flock and Rally: Events + Communications for a Brave New South with a 2014 Palmetto Award of Excellence in the Nonprofit Campaigns category.

The project selected for the IABC/SC 2014 Palmetto Award was Flock and Rally’s campaign for Columbia Open Studios 2014, a free tour of artists’ studios across Richland and Lexington counties presented by 701 Center for Contemporary Art (701 CCA) on April 5 and 6, 2014. 701 CCA’s free gallery exhibitions and artist-in-residence center are housed in the historic 701 Whaley building in Columbia, S.C.’s Olympia neighborhood.

Flock and Rally’s goal with the statewide campaign was to boost the visibility and impact of the Columbia Open Studios 2014 tour in order to achieve the dual objectives of raising funds and growing awareness for 701 Center for Contemporary Art, while simultaneously drawing attention to the Midlands’ vibrant visual art community and increasing opportunities for local artists to connect with new collectors and fans. 2014 marks the fourth year for which Flock and Rally has been retained to execute the Columbia Open Studios campaign.

Founded in 2010 by business partners Debi Schadel and Tracie Broom, Flock and Rally is a woman-owned, full-service branding agency in Columbia, S.C., serving clients in the lifestyle, non-profit, technology and economic development sectors, with a focus on advancing South Carolina’s creative economy and contributing to Columbia, S.C.’s growing reputation as a progressive Southern city on the rise.

The Columbia Open Studios 2014 campaign team included Broom and Schadel as well as current account manager Chloe Rodgers, former account manager Elizabeth Turner (now Marketing Manager with YMCA of Columbia) and former graduate intern Renee LeBouef (now a marketing consultant in New Orleans).

IABC/SC’s Palmetto Award celebration was held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Palmetto Club in downtown Columbia, S.C.

"IABC South Carolina was pleased to recognize Flock and Rally for its exemplary communication campaign," said Kimberly South, President, IABC South Carolina.  "The Palmetto Awards makes a true statement that South Carolina business communicators are top of the class."

The Palmetto Awards showcases excellence in communications projects and campaigns, digital communications, social media work, and other collateral material.  The proceeds from the event benefit an endowed scholarship at the University of South Carolina in memory of Mike Wilkerson, past president and founding member of the South Carolina chapter.
