Overview of Position
Flock and Rally Integrated Communications & Marketing, a progressive, women-owned agency based in Columbia, South Carolina, is seeking a creative director to join our team of #flockstars. This is a front-facing point of contact for our full-service creative agency’s clients, focused heavily on creative development alongside teammates who are coordinating and implementing integrated communications and marketing initiatives across multiple channels.
As a thinker and a creator, you will have direct responsibility for content creation, graphic design and front-end web design all from an audience-first perspective. As a highly creative, motivated and detail-oriented person you will be joining our values-driven agency of unicorns, flamingos, data nerds and responsible grown-ups directly supporting our Executive Vice President, executive team, and clients. This position is based in our downtown Columbia, S.C., headquarters, and reports to the EVP. Compensation is based on experience.

Areas of Focus
Creative Strategy and Oversight
The role of the creative executive is to be the brand strategist and steward and work towards client and company brand excellence. You drive clients’ visual and messaging identities companywide and oversee that brand standards for clients are being implemented, evaluated, and followed.
Execute creative that is innovative, compelling, and inherently shareable and rooted in strategy and insight.
Mentor and grow teammates’ creative knowledge by recognizing and pushing forward great ideas.
You will pitch breakthrough ideas to inspire high-level conceptual, big thinking.
You will be responsible for ideating, developing, designing, and producing creative concepts.
Lead and develop client and internal brand guidelines.
Develop and maintain oversight on all creative campaigns.
Create new standards for visual storytelling approaches that ensure we are seen as a leading values-based agency in creative content solutions.
Lead client brand development and discovery sessions.
Stay aware of new trends and introduce new concepts to the company and our clients.
Manage clients.
Ensure that creative and strategy teams create and execute best-in-class visual and messaging content from concept to completion (design, multimedia, photography, video, etc.)
Photo and Video Management
Create and maintain standards for video and photo shoots.
Develop shot lists for video and photo shoots.
Translate concepts into storyboards (media/visual elements).
Maintain photo/video rights with vendors.
Maintain and vet future vendors.
Own and discover best practices and protocols for photography, videography, audio recording, etc.
Assist staff in the photo selection process as it pertains to a client’s brand.
Website Development and UX
Serve as lead website design expert for company.
Stay up to date on best practices for website development including UX.
Develop information architecture for websites.
Work with web developer to build and launch websites.
Work with a graphic designer or design pages of website.
Lead copywriting team to develop website copy.
Develop and improve processes for website development.
Skills
When it comes to design, you notice the details. Like, ALL of the details.
You’re current with — and ahead of — ongoing cultural, creative and industry trends, especially those relevant to key clients/accounts. In particular, you can identify risks that may impact current projects and opportunities to pitch relevant new ideas.
You can proofread and edit your own work.
Experience complying to ADA website standards.
You have on-set shoot experience.
You love making storyboards, mood boards, and decks.
You have designed a wide range of assets for different formats and channels.
You have a superior portfolio showcasing high-end presentation design skills and clear design aesthetic.
You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
You have excellent time management skills with the ability to manage high volume and produce high-quality work on tight deadlines.
You have natural leadership skills with experience delegating, managing, and mentoring a high-performing creative team.
You possess a strong command of design principles, visual composition, typography, color theory and conceptual thinking.
You possess a strong understanding of photo shoots, motion design, video editing and best practices held within those disciplines.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a related area of study.
7+ years of marketing, advertising, graphics or visual communications experience.
Experience managing other humans in a work capacity.
Experience in all avenues of a creative integrated communications agency, especially visual branding, messaging, advertising copy, video and photo production and brand development.
Expert knowledge of Google Suite and required desktop publishing tools, including Adobe's Creative Suite — including Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign.
Experience using collaborative team communication and project management applications like Asana.
Candidate must live in the Columbia, South Carolina region. While the firm observes a hybrid and flexible work environment, employee must be regularly available for local meetings and client needs.
