Flock and Rally Communications & Marketing Celebrates 10 Years
As a consequential year comes to a close, communications and marketing firm Flock and Rally is pausing to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Founded in 2010, Flock and Rally marks one decade in business as a full-service, women-owned creative agency.
Flock and Rally was formed as a partnership ten years ago between two established, creative professionals, Debi Schadel and Tracie Broom, serving a select number of local clients. Today, Flock and Rally is a full-service marketing agency with a robust team that builds brands, develops strategies and performs an array of advanced communications, marketing and advertising services for clients across the Carolinas and beyond, including major national and global brands. In 2018, the agency purchased its own office building, located across from the Governor’s Mansion in the historic Arsenal Hill district of downtown Columbia, South Carolina.
“While we’ve grown to serve clients across the country, we maintain many long-term relationships with local clients, some of whom have been working with us since our early years,” says Tracie Broom, co-founding partner and chief strategy officer. “We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our clients and their teams to communicate their brand stories and drive their communities to action.”
Over the last decade, Flock and Rally has consistently leveraged new resources — gaining insight and adopting leading-edge best practices — while paying close attention to what works and what doesn’t. (The agency and its team members have garnered more than 50 awards since 2010.) With a specialization in customized, holistic strategies that remain flexible, the agency has positioned itself to serve clients who are growing and are ready to take their branding, marketing and communications to the next level.
“We build proprietary processes that help clients to revamp their marketing and communications operations so that they can achieve transformational outcomes,” says Debi Schadel, co-founding partner and chief operations officer. “Our clients already excel at what they do — we work with them to polish up their brands and share their stories with the right audiences.”
The firm integrates research, strategy, branding, public relations, marketing, traditional advertising, digital advertising, social media and more to serve a diverse base of clients, ranging from local nonprofits to large-scale businesses. Serving industry sectors ranging from hospitality, lifestyle and tourism to business, technology, real estate, economic development and more, Flock and Rally’s team relishes the opportunity to work with clients who are transforming their communities.
In addition to market research, strategy and branding, a particular point of growth for the agency in the last few years has been in media buying — particularly in digital advertising.
“I’m proud of my 15 years in advertising, and it has been gratifying to deploy that skillset in my leadership role at Flock and Rally,” says Merritt McNeely, executive vice president. “Our team is consistently engaged in professional development activities regarding the newest advances in digital and traditional advertising, and this has served our clients well. We are excited to continue to grow our advertising service offerings.”
With a rich company culture that focuses on quality of life and flexibility, Flock and Rally has expanded its team of full-time staff, including the addition of a Chief Doggo Officer, Marty. Flock and Rally’s full-time, in-house team is rounded out by Operations Manager Rachel Carter, Brand and Communications Strategist Ashley Cady, Marketing Strategist Mary Kate Korpita, Communications Strategist Hailey Covell, Project Coordinator Caitlin Dingler and Project Coordinator Maddie Hilliard. Designer and illustrator Cait Maloney of Cait Maloney Creative is a key member of the creative team.
In addition to maintaining a powerful network of long-term relationships with contractors, media, partners, reps and vendors, the company’s internship program has hosted over 100 interns, many of whom have built impressive careers locally and internationally.
“Our people — the staff, partners, contractors and more — are the ones who truly bring magic to the work we do,” says McNeely. “We wouldn’t be where we are as a company without their passion, hard work and creativity.”
Flock and Rally has dedicated itself to supporting local nonprofits, agencies and businesses, and in turn, the community’s support has played a vital role in the agency’s growth.
“Flock and Rally’s mission is to rally our community around great ideas,” notes Broom. “In turn, our community has rallied around our business and fostered its growth in a way that has been moving to experience.”
“The support that our agency has received over the years is not lost on us,” says Schadel. “We are so thankful to all who have helped us grow this business from its origins to what it has become.”
